Past Post Commander Norm Ebeling told Post Commander Christophersen that Blackburn Hall had been sold because QM Brede said that the Post could not afford to fix the fire code violations in Blackburn Hall.

 

That, turns out, was one of many lies told by Brede. Norm neglected to mention that VFW Post 3348 not only owned the 1/2 acre that Blackburn Hall sat on, but also owned the adjacent 1/2-acre lot which, when confronted with the facts, Norm said that back lot was used for overflow parking.

 

That back lot sold for $600,000 --- we could have fixed any fire code violations for that. But that apparently disturbed Al Brede's scheme to rip off VFW Post 3348 for as much as $150,000 which he most likely used as a down payment on his very nice house in Lacey, WA.
